Who Am I?

September 16, 2011 –

Even those who seem like they are an impenetrable force of strength have times when they lack self-confidence. There are times when I get caught up in my Head Trash and I feel like I am standing in quick sand.

The song “Who Am I” by Casting Crowns is one of my favorites. It is easy for us to think that we dont matter. or what we do or say doesn’t effect people. Would anyone care if I was gone? It happens everyday to so many people and unfortunately,  too many people put a gun to their head because they are so convinced of this. If you want to know your self worth, look no further than the following passage from Matthew6

29Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father. 30But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. 31Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows.

We are God’s children. As we look at our children, would we not do anything for them? So the Father looks upon us with an incomprehensible love. The very hairs of your head are all numbered. We shall walk with confidence for the simple fact that we are all children of God. As I have said in other posts, if God is on our side, then what shall we fear? What journey are we not willing to take? What mountain are we not willing to climb?

One thing that I learned from my father was humility. Stand with pride and stick up for what you know is right, but walk softly and with humility. With humility, we are able to call out the chorus of the song with ease,

“Not because of who I am,
But because of what you’ve done.
Not because of what I’ve done,
But because of who you are.”

The glory is His and we are here to glorify Him! Our actions and words all serve that singular purpose. And when we work to glorify ourselves, stop showing compassion, stop being a child of God, what does He do? When we sin, what does He do?

Lord, you catch me when I’m falling,
And you’ve told me who I am.
I am yours.

Who Am I? I am yours! Wow. The Lord of all calls to us everyday to remind us that we belong to Him and are embraced in His light. What else is there to desire? What else is there to want? We are so caught up in our earthly desires that we forget the only thing we need is Him! Our confidence shall soar! Our self worth shall be unwaivering! How would you feel if you got to meet one of your heroes and they brought you into their inner circle? BFFs maybe? LOL! This is what God does everyday to us.

Walk Proud.

Stand Tall.

And never let anyone tell you are anything less than what you are: an amazing, wonderful, and unique child of God!

Enjoy the song!

Who Am I, By: Casting Crowns

Who am I?
That the Lord of all the earth,
Would care to know my name,
Would care to feel my hurt.
Who am I?
That the bright and morning star,
Would choose to light the way,
For my ever wandering heart.

Bridge:
Not because of who I am,
But because of what you’ve done.
Not because of what I’ve done,
But because of who you are.

Chorus:
I am a flower quickly fading,
Here today and gone tomorrow,
A wave tossed in the ocean,
A vapor in the wind.
Still you hear me when I’m calling,
Lord, you catch me when I’m falling,
And you’ve told me who I am.
I am yours.
I am yours.

Who am I?
That the eyes that see my sin
Would look on me with love
And watch me rise again.
Who am I?
That the voice that calmed the sea,
Would call out through the rain,
And calm the storm in me.

Not because of who I am,
But because of what you’ve done.
Not because of what I’ve done,
But because of who you are.

I am a flower quickly fading,
Here today and gone tomorrow,
A wave tossed in the ocean,
A vapor in the wind.
Still you hear me when I’m calling,
Lord, you catch me when I’m falling,
And you’ve told me who I am.
I am yours.

Not because of who I am,
But because of what you’ve done.
Not because of what I’ve done,
But because of who you are.

I am a flower quickly fading,
Here today and gone tomorrow,
A wave tossed in the ocean,
A vapor in the wind.
Still you hear me when I’m calling,
Lord, you catch me when I’m falling,
And you’ve told me who I am.
I am yours.
I am yours.
I am yours.

Whom shall I fear
Whom shall I fear
Cause I am yours..
I am yours..
