A New Chapter…in my Life Balance Journey

August 21, 2012 –

“Everything happens for a reason”…or so they say. (Whoever this infamous “they” is.)  In 1997, I graduated from Purdue University with my Bachelor’s of Electrical Engineering and no more than a few weeks later, I was a productive member of society and got an actual job. :) Well, 15 years has passed with the same company this past June. However, all things must come to an end. This chapter is now finished and now I get to write a new chapter.

I find that I never stop asking myself what I want to be when I grow up. I’m 37, so I am not old…but I am not young either. I guess it all depends on the age of the person who is reading this. :) I have  (3) beautiful kids who are 10, 8, and 6 and I have an amazing wife of 12 years. I truly feel like I am the richest man on earth.

So the question I have been asked alot this past week is “So, what’s next?” Well, more on that in a minute.

One of the things that I have taken control of in the past year is my personal development. It is a critical behavior of being a Beachbody Coach, but beyond that, it is a critical behavior to continue to grow, improve, and develop ourselves. And while I have an undergraduate and graduate degree, our education and development never stops. It is truly a journey, not a destination.

Craig Holiday is someone I look up to as is a mentor to many of us coaches. Listening to him one morning while driving to work, he said the following:

“You spend the first half of your life trying to be successful and the second half trying to be significant.”

I remember hearing that and it hit me like a ton if bricks. It perfectly summarized so many  of the feelings I was having. I yearn for significance..the need to help others. The desire to add significance into other people’s lives. And coaching has really given that to me.

So as I look to write this new chapter and continue my journey for life balance, there is one thing I have today. And that is all the people around me. My family, my friends, and  this great community of people at Team Right Now.

I don’t know how this chapter next chapter goes. It is being written as I type. But right now I know I am Full Time Beachbody Coach. And in that, I promise to continue to give you everything I have. I promise to help you regain your life balance. I promise to help make your physical, mental, spiritual, and financial goals a reality. And I promise to lead by example, lead with integrity,  and follow my own heart.

As you stated Michael, everything happens for a reason. I too believe in that with all my heart. And I’m positive that it was in your cards to be a full time coach at this time, at this very moment. You’re a spectacular leader and truly one of the most intelligent people I’ve ever met. I’m honored to call you a friend. Look at how awesome Team Right Now is right now! (No pun intended) Now you have even more time to help others…they don’t know who they’re messing with…you’re going to ROCK THIS. My prediction is TRN will be the team to beat! Mark my words! TEAM RIGHT NOW UPPP!!!
