P90X-Medicine Balls

April 18, 2011 –

For anyone that has been doing Tony Horton One-on-Ones, you know that he loves to play with unstable surfaces by using balls. (You can check out my reviews of Volume 1 and Volume 3 to see which workouts require balls.) We know from Volume3 MC2 and from from the tapings of P90X2, that balls will be used extensively for the extreme versions of exercises.

I have done a full video review of the balls I use, with a focus on medicine balls. I also added some clips of the exercises Tony does with balls in the One-on-One workouts. Finally, I give you my perspective on what to look for in a medicine ball. Hang around until the end because Coach Mike puts himself out there to match Tony in Chest, Back, and Balls with (30) 4-Ball Push-Ups!

Here are some links to the Valeo medicine balls I use as well a stability ball from Beachbody.

Hey, does the stability ball you provide a link for have a similar build as the one that Tony Horton uses in P90X 2. Will I be able to do pushups on it without it collapsing? Great advice and keep up the amazing work!

You bet KT. This is the same ball as I have under Shopping ->Equipment-> P90X2 Equipment It is a really great stability ball. better than an old one i had lying around. very stable. Anti-burst. And it did great through all P90X2 for me…Push-Ups, Plyo Push-Ups, Possible Push-Ups, you name it.

Hey Coach Mike, thanks for the quick response! However, I feel that stability ball is a little bit on the pricier side, do you know where I could get cheaper ones for under 25 bucks, similar to how the Valeo medicine balls are much cheaper as compared to the ones on the beach body website?
