90-Day Triathlon Training

September 3, 2011 –

Another 90 day block of training completed! After completing Insanity Asylum, I was ready to lay out the next challenge: complete an Olympic Triathlon.

I laid out my first 30 days of training and nutrition HERE with it ending with a Sprint Triathlon. I then took the next 60 days to kick it up a notch to increase my distances.

If you are interested in mixing P90X with Triathlon training, I have laid out my full 90-Day Triathlon Training HERE under Workout Calendars – Roberts Hybrid V. In general terms, I followed the following format.

– 3 Resistance Days which followed P90X. It is critical to keep a Legs day in your routine.

– 3 Cardio Days consisting of a long Bike, a Brick Workout (Bike / Run) , and a Swim

– 1 Day of Yoga

As the weeks move on, the distances increase until it culminates in Training Block 3. The distances start weening one week before the triathlon. I have put an example below.
